Yes, the empowering thing is very Cinderella. She gets to become queen but some other woman is still doing her old job. Maybe more caretaker jobs, like nurses and teachers and social workers. They do Important Exhausting underpaid work. It's a reflection of who makes the movies and who has the time see them, I guess. I would like more chick lit that mixed it up a bit. Good authors like this do exist but visibility is low in film: Erma Bombeck and Shirley Jackson, Rebecca Harding Davis, Frances E Harper, Harriet Wilson, Margaret Drabble, Marina Bonner...
