Musa al-Gharbi (if I understand him well) suggests it is important to address systemic inequalities while recognising these are nothing new. He suggests most exercises are put in place as a means of self-reflection (that then may go awry/not achieve the ends, which are usually strictly profitable). Essentially, your reflection on capitalism in academic publishing achieves the same ends, one could argue.
